Famous Foods from Italy

Spaghetti
Despite what many think, pasta did not originate in Italy. The Chinese have the hold on the first known pastas, however, Italy did invent the ever popular pasta we call spaghetti. It is believed to have originated in Southern Italy, back in the 12th century. It wasn't until the 19th century when commercial pasta factories came on the scene, enabling Italy to mass produce spaghetti and other pastas.
If you really like pasta, you might want to consider checking out the Pasta Museum in Rome during your travels in Italy! It is the only one of its kind in the world and boasts 11 rooms with eight centuries of pasta history!
Pizza
The modern day pizza's birthplace was Naples, Italy. The original and most popular variety is Margherita, which has only tomato, mozzarella, and basil. These colors represent the Italian flag colors and legend says this pizza was served to Queen Margherita of Savoy. Pizza was a peasant food, yet the Queen loved it and continued to enjoy it despite the backlash she received from others in the royal circle. The pizza was later named after her and is a popular pizza variety served around the world. If you have a chance to sample a Margherita pizza, Naples is definitely the place -- with tomatoes grown in the volcanic ash of nearby Pompeii, the taste is spectacular and unlike pizza I have tried anywhere else in Italy or around the world.<---------By HAOYUANZHU ZHHAD1301--------->

THAI FOOD

Tom Yam Goong
This is the national aroma of Thailand, thanks to the generous use of fragrant herbs. Lemongrass, lime leaves, galangal, and shallots provide the memorable smells, with chilis and fish sauce providing the kick. Substance comes in the form of jumbo shrimp (goong) and mushrooms. The flavour is a unique combination of spicy hot and sour and makes for an ideal start to a meal, or - when paired with rice - a worthy main dish.

Pad Thai
Thailand's calling card to the rest of the culinary world, pad Thai doesn't need an introduction. There are an infinite number of variations on this timeless tradition, but usually noodles are dressed up with tofu, bean sprouts, onion, and the brilliant final touch: peanuts ground to near dust. Pad Thai is a diner-participation meal; you put on the finishing touches of fish sauce, sugar, chili powder, and crushed peanuts to suit your taste. ------By Xiangrui Kong------

Classic French Meals

1. Moules Marinières
The association between mussels and french fries is a Belgian specialty, but it’s very widespread in France and we brought our own twist to the recipe. There are many ways to cook mussels, my favorite is the moules marinières, a recipe from the west of France where you cook the mussels in a white wine broth with shallots and parsley.
2. Sole Meunière
You don’t need fancy preparations to get an awesome result, especially when it comes to fish. Sole meunière is thus a very straightforward and easily prepared recipe. The final dish is flavorful, crispy, buttery, and lemony, all at once.
3.Hachis Parmentier
A layer of mashed potatoes and a layer of juicy ground beef (or, as I like to call them, two layers of heaven). Hachis Parmentier is often described as a French version of shepherd’s pie. It is French comfort food at its best and it is fairly easy to prepare.
4. Cheese Soufflé
Like Audrey Hepburn’s culinary school instructor in Sabrina puts it: “The soufflé it must be gay, gay, gay. Like two butterflies dancing the waltz in the summer breeze.” Doesn’t it make you want to channel your inner French chef?    <-------by Xiangrui Kong------->

Most Famous Japanese Food------Sushi

Sushi is the most famous Japanese dish outside of Japan, and one of the most popular dishes among the Japanese themselves. In Japan, sushi is usually enjoyed on special occasions, such as a celebration.
During the Edo period, "sushi" refered to pickled fish preserved in vinegar. Nowadays sushi can be defined as a dish containing rice which has been prepared with sushi vinegar. There are many different types of sushi. Some popular ones are:
Nigiri
Small rice balls with fish, shellfish, etc. on top. There are countless varieties of nigirizushi, some of the most common ones being tuna, shrimp, eel, squid, octopus and fried egg.
Temaki
Temakizushi (literally: hand rolls) are cones made of nori seaweed and filled with sushi rice, seafood and vegetables.
Inari
Inarizushi is a simple and inexpensive type of sushi, in which sushi rice is filled into aburaage (deep fried tofu) bags.

Gunkan
Small cups made of sushi rice and dried seaweed filled with seafood, etc. There are countless varieties of gunkanzushi, some of the most common ones being sea urchin and various kinds of fish eggs.<-------by Xiangrui Kong------->

Korean Food

Korean food is one of the most famous Asian foods. Many people choose to go to Korean to have holiday, not only for the famous stars or beautiful clothes, but also for the delicious food. The most popular Korean foods are hot-pot, Bulgogi and spicy rice cake.  Many foreigners like Bulgogi, because it made by fresh beef and the taste of this is a little bit sweet. In addition, hot-pot has many choices such as meat, seafood or vegetable. Hot pot always tastes spicy, but the staff of the restaurant will adjust the level of spicy. Furthermore, Kimbap is a must at any Korean picnic. Traditional versions use Bulgogi meat, assorted vegetables and omelette. The rice is seasoned with sesame oil and salt rather than vinegar and sugar. There is no need for dipping sauce as everything is properly seasoned to create that perfect well-balanced bite. While the majority of kimchi is left to ferment for months and possibly years, this recipe is a notable exception as it can be eaten right away. It’s briefly dipped in salt and sometimes drizzled with sesame oil at the end of cooking.

Chinese hamburger

Rou jiamo is a popular snack in northwest China, and is usually found in one of two varieties: Shaanxi Province’s lazhirou jiamo (腊汁肉夹馍), which is made with pork in gravy, and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region’s yangrou roujiamo (羊肉肉夹馍), which is made with lamb. The former is more common, and is one of the most famous snacks out of xiaochi heaven Xi’an, the capital of Shaanxi Province. WAJJD1401 Wang Jiageng (Anthony)
